Dublin public transport charges set to rise 5%
The Government is set to approve a range of CIE fare increases that will see the cost of bus and DART journeys in Dublin rise by 5% in the New Year.
Reports today said the increases, approved by the cabinet on Tuesday, would see most of CIE’s bus and rail fares increase by an average of 3.5%.
This is less than half the 8% increase sought by the company in a submission to the Government last month.
CIE was seeking the increase to meet rising fuel costs and to offset a loss of business to bus and DART services caused from the LUAS introduction.
