Burke to be sentenced for false tax declarations

Former government minister Ray Burke is due to be sentenced at Dublin's Circuit Criminal Court today for tax offences.

The former Fianna Fáil TD pleaded guilty earlier this year to making two false tax declarations in 1993.

He could face up to five years in prison and a maximum fine of €127,000, but is expected to receive a lighter sanction because of his guilty plea.
