The South Eastern Health Board is reportedly investigating an incident where an unnecessary caesarean section was carried out on a woman in the mistaken belief that she was carrying twins.

Reports this morning said the incident happened five weeks ago, when doctors believed the 36-year-old woman, who had already given birth, had failed to deliver her second baby naturally.
