Leaders reveal missed chance for peace

British Prime Minister Tony Blair revealed today how agonisingly close he came to striking the political deal of a lifetime in Northern Ireland.

He outlined the delicate and carefully choreographed step-by-step process which would have involved the destruction of all IRA weapons by the end of the month and the restoration of a fully operational powersharing executive by March.
