Ireland gets access to Sellafield
The Irish Government will reportedly be given access to the Sellafield nuclear plant and its security arrangements under a new agreement with the British authorities.
Reports this morning said the deal would allow Irish inspectors to access the controversial facility in north-west England, while security arrangements surrounding the plant would also be shared with the Irish Government.
The agreement is reportedly due to be signed by the two governments during a ceremony in Dublin on Friday.
Ireland has already taken a number of legal actions against Britain over Sellafield and the Government has repeatedly stated that its objective is to the get the plant shut down for good.
