INOU welcomes significant fall in Live Register figures
The Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed has welcomed today's CSO figures highlighting a significant decrease in the seasonally-adjusted Live Register figures for last month.
The Central Statistics Office said the number of people signing on had fallen by 3,500 in November when seasonal factors were taken into account.
INOU spokesman Eric Conroy said the figures were positive, but they masked employment problems in certain parts of the country.
"Our main concern are rural unemployment, the economic blackspots around the country and regional disparities," he said.
"We noticed that the figures for Kerry and Donegal have bucked the trend and actually increased their monthly figures against a backdrop of fairly reducing numbers."
