SIPTU man resigns from airport board over Ryanair deal

A SIPTU representative on the newly-established Dublin Airport Authority has reportedly resigned in protest at a recent deal reached between Ryanair and the independent Shannon Airport Authority.

Under the deal, Ryanair received discounts on landing fees in return for basing a number of its planes at the Co Clare airport.

The agreement had to be ratified by the DAA.

Reports this morning said Dermot O'Loughlin, who occupies one of the worker-director positions on the authority, had decided to step down over what he considered a lack of consultation on the deal.
