Murder probe after body found in flat

Detectives began a murder investigation tonight after the discovery of a man’s body in a flat on the outskirts of Belfast.

The body of the 40-year-old man was discovered shortly before 3pm at Gleneagles Gardens in the loyalist Ballybeen Estate in the east of the city.

Although police are treating the incident as murder, they have not indicated how the man died.

The area around the flat was sealed off while officers carried out an investigation of the scene.

Police at Castlereagh have appealed to anyone who was in the Gleneagles Gardens area in the past 24 hours to contact them.
