Government advised to reconsider third level fees issue

An international expert has advised the Government to reconsider introducing third level fees in Ireland.

Professor Michael Shattock, a member of the OECD team that reviewed higher education here, is warning that the Irish economy is under threat unless we invest in third level programmes.

Professor Shattock also said that Irish universities need to be more competitive in terms of research to avoid being marginalised internationally.
