County Limerick came to a standstill today as hundreds of mourners packed two churches to grieve for two victims of an electrocution tragedy.

County Limerick came to a standstill today as hundreds of mourners packed two churches to grieve for two victims of an electrocution tragedy.

And President Mary McAleese personally contacted the families of the late Tom Liston and Niall Fitzpatrick to express her sympathy at their loss, according to the Evening Echo newspaper.

Tom Liston, aged 41, and 36-year-old Niall Fitzpatrick both died when a floodlight they were moving struck overhead power cables on Sunday night.

The two men had been trying to position the light to guide mourners from their cars to the home a 21-year-old Billy Sheahan who was being waked after dying in a car crash two days previously.
