Young FG discusses lowering drinking age

A motion to lower the legal drinking age is to be discussed by the youth wing of Fine Gael at its annual conference today.

The proposal from students at the University of Limerick would see the age limit reduced to 17 and mandatory age cards introduced.

President of Young Fine Gael William Lavelle says punishing everyone for the actions of a few is not the best way to solve alcohol problems in society.
