A major study of Irish children, due to get underway shortly, will today hear how similar research in Canada helped formulate policies and services for children and parents, and how the same can be done here.

It is expected to be one of the most significant pieces of research to be conducted in Ireland, involving 10,000 newborn babies and 8,000 nine-year-olds.
