Iarnród Éireann has warned that its network will become clogged within eight years unless a major rail link is built between Heuston and Connolly stations in Dublin.

Iarnród Éireann has warned that its network will become clogged within eight years unless a major rail link is built between Heuston and Connolly stations in Dublin.

The rail company has submitted a €3.4bn proposal to the Government, containing plans for an underground tunnel and double-decker trains.

The Minister for Transport, Martin Cullen, is considering the plan.
