Drogheda hosts water safety conference
The Irish Water Safety Association (IWS) is holding its annual conference in Drogheda today.
The association is honouring Minister for Foreign Affairs Dermot Ahern for his contribution to water safety in his previous post as Minister for the Marine.
They plan on improving necessary attitudes, rescue skills and behaviour to prevent drowning and water related accidents across the country.
IWS boss John Leech said: "We're trying to improve the way we teach the public. We're trying to teach swimming and life-saving, safety, survival and boat training."
