Four people were arrested in Northern Ireland today in connected an alleged £2m (€2.88m) fuel fraud.

Four people were arrested in Northern Ireland today in connected an alleged £2m (€2.88m) fuel fraud.

The three men and a woman were detained during a joint operation by Customs and Excise investigators and police officers in Co Tyrone and Co Armagh.

Searches were carried out at eight premises in Coalisland, Keady, Armagh and Lurgan.

A Customs and Excise spokesman said a fuel tanker, records and 40,000 litres of fuel were seized 20,000 litres of the fuel being recovered from an underground storage tank.
