Thousands of euro of illegal unlicensed fireworks and counterfeit goods were seized at a Sunday market close to the Co Fermanagh border today.

Thousands of euro of illegal unlicensed fireworks and counterfeit goods were seized at a Sunday market close to the Co Fermanagh border today.

The seizures were made by uniformed PSNI officers and members of the Organised Crime Squad during a joint operation at the Mullan market outside the village of Kinawley .

The fireworks had an estimated street value of around £15,000 (€21,606) and the counterfeit goods around £30,000 (€43,220) said a police spokesman.

The counterfeit goods included CDs, DVDs and perfume. There were no arrests.

Members of the Federation Against Copyright Theft, the British Phonographic Industry and the Entertainment and Leisure Software Association accompanied police on the market raid.
