Chewing gum companies could face compulsory charge

The makers of chewing gum are considering the latest Government plans for keeping Irish streets clean.

The new Minister for the Environment, Dick Roche, has proposed implementing a compulsory charge on chewing gum companies, rather than a levy on each pack.
