Gardaí investigating the shooting dead of a traveler on a farm in Co Mayo yesterday have released a man they were questioning without charge.

A file on the case will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The victim was 43-year-old John Ward, who lived at Carrowbrowne Halting Site in Galway.

His death followed a confrontation with a farmer near the village of Cross on the Mayo-Galway border.
