FG calls for Gardaí to investigate Killybegs fishing 'fraud'

The Fine Gael spokesman on the Marine, John Perry, has called for an immediate Garda investigation into allegations of serious and wrong-doing among fishermen in the north west.

Fishermen in Killybegs, Co Donegal, are alleged to have been involved in fraudulently recording fish catches.

Killybegs fisherman Pat Cannon alleges that some of his colleagues in the country's biggest fishing port have falsified logbooks, under-reported catches and ignored quotas as well as closing fishing areas.
