Fine Gael slams Minister's 'unrealistic' target for garda numbers

Government plans to increase garda numbers are to be unveiled today by the Minister for Justice Michael McDowell.

However, Fine Gael has poured scorn on the proposals, saying it would take 25 years to reach the minister's target of a 14,000-strong garda force.
