One man was arrested today after gardaí seized heroin with an estimated street value of €600,000 in the Rialto area of Dublin.

One man was arrested today after gardaí seized heroin with an estimated street value of €600,000 in the Rialto area of Dublin.

The 21-year-old man was taken to Sundrive Road garda station for questioning by drugs squad detectives.

Gardaí from Sundrive Road Drugs Unit and officers from the Garda National Drugs Unit carried out the swoop in the early hours following a surveillance operation in the area.

The man was being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Meanwhile, gardaí were investigating after a 23-year-old man was attacked and stabbed in a flat in Limerick.

The incident occurred at around 1.35am this morning at Upper William Street. The man was said to be in a critical condition in Limerick Regional Hospital.
