Cullen opens Cashel by-pass

One of the worst traffic bottlenecks in the country will become a thing of the past later today when Martin Cullen performs his first public function as Minister for Transport, officially opening the new Cashel by-pass in Co Tipperary.

From noon today it will take up to 10,000 vehicles travelling the Dublin to Cork route daily off the streets of Cashel.

The seven kilometres of dual-carriageway cost €48.6m to build and was finished seven months ahead of schedule.

The Monasterevin by-pass in Co Kildare, also on the busy Dublin-Cork road, is due to open next month.
