Poll shows most happy with McAleese
Most people in Ireland are happy with President Mary McAleese and don’t mind that she has been reappointed unopposed, according to an opinion poll published today.
McAleese will be inaugurated on November 11 for a second seven-year term. She retained her post on October 1 after no major party fielded a rival candidate, citing her widespread popularity as the ceremonial head of state.
