The organisers of a sailboat demonstration against the passage of two BNFL nuclear freighters to England have had to cancel their protest on Dublin’s dockside.

A force 9 gale with the risk of force 10 later, forced the Irish Nuclear Free Flotilla to call off the protest on Sir John Rogerson Quay and City Quay.

Green Peace claimed that the ships carrying weapons-grade plutonium may come as close as 80 miles off the coast of west Cork, and that the vessels are easy prey to terror attacks.

Representatives from the Irish Nuclear Free Flotilla said they hope to reschedule the event when weather conditions are more suitable.
