Donegal workers rally over job losses

Workers from the troubled UNIFI factory in Donegal are to stage a rally in Letterkenny today to highlight the county's unemployment crisis.

They hope that hundreds of people will join them in a bid to convince the Government to take action.

The remaining 300 workers at the UNIFI plant are due to be let go at the end of October.

It is the latest in a series of job losses in the county.

Rally organiser Gerry Doherty said the key issue is how to create new jobs throughout Donegal.

He said: “We need jobs that pay a decent wage.”
