The Carers' Association says better recognition and services are desperately needed to support carers who look after the growing number of elderly and unwell people.

Legendary Gaelic football Manager Mick O'Dwyer is the new patron of the Carers' Association.

Speaking at the launch of the Association's three year strategic plan, he said carers have been neglected by the Government for too long.
