Dublin Airport urged to reduce reliance on British routes
Transport Minister Seamus Brennan has urged the new Dublin Airport Authority to reduce its dependence on British routes and seek to attract more business from the rest of Europe.
Mr Brennan made the call after he met the authority this morning. The body was appointed as part of the Government’s plans to break up Aer Rianta and is due to take control of Dublin Airport on October 1.
SIPTU had criticised Mr Brennan for failing to invite any union representatives to the meeting, despite his assurance that four worker-directors would be appointed to the new body.
However, the minister said the only reason they were absent was because “a mechanism hasn’t yet been put in place between the unions and ourselves to complete the panel”.
