Reduction in live register figures welcomed by INOU
The Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed has welcomed the reduction in the number of people on the live register announced today.
The figures show those signing on last month fell by nearly 2,000, and when seasonal factors are taken into account, that represents a reduction of 10,000 on the same period last year.
Eric Conroy of the INOU attributed the reduction to a number of factors, including an improvement in the economy, despite events such as the Iraq war and the oil crisis.
