Just 163 social and affordable houses built last year

Only 163 houses were built under the Government’s much-vaunted social and affordable housing scheme last year, according to reports in this morning’s newspapers.

The reports said the Department of the Environment was also predicting that just 500 houses would be built under the scheme this year, 1,000 in 2005 and 2,000 in 2006.
