Some 50 Nigerians arrested pending deportation

A number of Irish-born children are among a group of around 50 Nigerians facing deportation to their home country this morning.

The 50 were arrested at various locations throughout the country yesterday evening and are being held at two detention centres in Dublin. They are expected to be flown out of the country some time this morning.

The Irish Council for Civil Liberties has criticised the manner of the deportations, saying those affected had no clarity on what would happen to them when they arrived back in Nigeria.
