The North Western Health Board has reportedly asked the Irish Medical Council to investigate the practice of a consultant obstetrician/gynaecologist based at Sligo General Hospital.

Reports this morning said the investigation was requested following a review of Dr Victor Moore’s cases by a former professor of obstetrics at Trinity College, Dublin.

The reports said Dr Moore was currently on leave pending the outcome of the inquiry. The North Western Health Board has refused to reveal details of the case, but has confirmed that an investigation is underway.
