Govt spent €2.5m on entertainment last year

The Government spent more than €2.5m on entertainment last year, according to reports in this morning’s newspapers.

The Government spent more than €2.5m on entertainment last year, according to reports in this morning’s newspapers.

The reports said the Department of Foreign Affairs spent the highest amount on hospitality at €796,000, an increase of €150,000 on the previous year.

The Department of Health also reportedly spent €427,000, an increase of €83,000 on the figures for 2002.

The €2.5m hospitality bill included €50,000 spent on gifts for state visitors.
