Limerick couple quizzed after security alert on Naples-Dublin plane

A Dublin-bound plane was at the centre of a major security alert in France yesterday.

The Icelandic Airlines Boeing 737 was en route from Naples to Dublin when it was diverted to the French city of Lyon after a note containing the words “Bomb 11 September” was discovered on board.

The passengers were evacuated and the aircraft was grounded for four hours.

However, nothing suspicious was found on board and the plane eventually arrived in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

Reports this morning said two people, believed to be a married couple from Limerick, were questioned by French police in connection with the incident and were expected to be flown home on a later flight than the other passengers.
