At least three people have been killed in two separate accidents today.

At least three people have been killed in two separate accidents today.

Gardaí say at least two people died when a car collided with an articulated lorry on the Kilbeggan road in Mullingar, Co Westmeath.

The road has been closed awaiting the removal of the wreckage, and it has yet to be confirmed whether there were any other passengers in the car.

Meanwhile, in the Ballyfermot area of Dublin, a woman in her 40s was killed when she was struck by a car shortly after 9am.
