SIPTU to serve strike notice on Brinks Allied today

SIPTU is expected to serve seven days’ strike notice on the Brinks Allied security firm as part of a dispute over the introduction of new vans and procedures.

Workers at the company voted by 60 to nine in favour of all-out industrial action yesterday.

They are already refusing to operate the new security vans or comply with procedures that they believe would compromise their health and safety.

The vans and procedures were introduced last week without consultation in an effort to combat a spate of armed raids so far this year.

The dispute has led to scores of ATMs in the east of the country running out of cash.
