Garda patrol car attacked during attempted robbery in Athy

Three gardaí escaped injury this morning after their vehicle was attacked with slash hooks and fire extinguishers during an attempted robbery in Co Kildare.

The incident happened at the Lidl store in the town at around 4.30am.
