SIPTU and Brinks Allied to resume LRC talks

SIPTU and Brinks Allied are due to resume talks at the Labour Relations Commission today in an effort to resolve the dispute affecting ATMs in the east of the country.

SIPTU said yesterday that the talks would focus on ways to secure a safer environment for Brinks staff through the increased use of garda and army escorts for cash transportations and the introduction of new technology to prevent armed robberies.

The security firm’s workers are still refusing to operate new security vans and procedures introduced in an effort to combat a spate of armed raids.

The staff believe the new procedures are detrimental to the their health and safety and have accused Brinks of sparking a lock-out by refusing to allow them to work as normal until the dispute is resolved.
