Gardaí have uncovered a small arms cache in Limerick city, it emerged tonight.

Gardaí have uncovered a small arms cache in Limerick city, it emerged tonight.

Two sawn-off shot guns, ammunition and a cylindrical object were discovered along with a small quantity of drugs in St Brendan’s Street on the St Mary’s Park estate at around 4pm.

An Army bomb disposal unit is expected to carry out a thorough inspection of the weapons. A Garda spokeswoman said no arrests were made but investigations were continuing.
