A study conducted in Ireland has found that a cholesterol-lowering drug can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease and strokes in people with type-two diabetes.

The consultant at St James’ Hospital in Dublin who carried out the trial has described it as an important milestone, while the Diabetes Foundation of Ireland said the study would have significant positive benefits on the lives of its members.
