Body found in hunt for fisherman
Gardaí searching a Co Cavan lake for a missing fisherman have recovered a body, it was confirmed today.
Local divers were assisting officers in the search for a man, believed to be in his 20s, who fell overboard his fishing boat in Lough Sheelin.
The man, believed to be from Co Louth, and a friend had been out fishing over the weekend.
The pair spent Friday night on an island in the lake.
The man was reported missing after he fell overboard yesterday morning as they returned to shore.
Gardaí said a body has just been recovered and it will probably be taken to Cavan General Hospital for identification.
