Brennan: penalty points have reduced deaths
The Minister for Transport, Seamus Brennan has said that he is satisfied that there have been fewer deaths on the nation's roads since the introduction of the penalty points system and that driver behaviour is improving.
The latest statistics on the penalty points system, released today, show that while only three drivers have been disqualified for three years on clocking up the maximum 12 points on their licences, there are 153,000 others with penalty points.
