The Irish aid agency GOAL has called on the Taoiseach to raise the humanitarian crisis in western Sudan at the United Nations.

GOAL has already accused the UN of failing to adequately respond to an imminent catastrophe in the Darfur region, where around a million ethnic black Africans have been expelled from their land by militias allegedly armed by the Sudanese government, a claim the government of Sudan denies.
