An Post confirms 270 jobs to go as SDS closes

An Post has confirmed it is planning to close its SDS parcel delivery service and said the move would lead to 270 job losses.

The company said today that all of the lay-offs would be secured through early retirement or voluntary redundancies.

It also said it would integrate parcel delivery services into An Post’s other mail operations.

The company said SDS had been losing money for some time and was putting undue strain on the company’s financial situation.
