Gardaí arrest man in Sligo death probe

Gardaí in Sligo have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the murder of another man in the town earlier this week.

The man was arrested in Sligo at around 5.30pm yesterday and questioned about the murder of 44-year-old Paul Watters, whose body was found in an alleyway off Stephen’s Street on Tuesday morning.

A post-mortem revealed Mr Watters, an ex-soldier from the Avondale area of the town, had died from multiple head injuries.
