The British Ministry of Defence has obtained a gagging order against a former British soldier who has claimed that a colleague was “sacrificed” in the North to protect an informer.

In 1997, Stephen Restorick became the last British soldier to be killed by the IRA. He was shot by a sniper while manning a checkpoint in Bessbrook, Co Armagh.
