Transport Minister Seamus Brennan is due to formally appoint Ger Deering as Ireland’s first taxi regulator today.

Transport Minister Seamus Brennan is due to formally appoint Ger Deering as Ireland’s first taxi regulator today.

Mr Deering is a former director of operations with Carlow Co Council.

His appointment has been welcomed by taxi unions, who said they were hopeful that he would introduce measures to control the increasing number of drivers entering the industry since it was deregulated several years ago.
