Govt planning spending spree in ‘voter-sensitive’ areas

The Government is reportedly planning a spending spree in “voter-sensitive” areas in an effort to regain popularity following its poor showing in June’s local elections.

Reports this morning said the Taoiseach was planning to appoint Foreign Affairs Minister Brian Cowen as his new Finance Minister and that the pair would work together to forge a fresh image for the Government.
