Sinn Féin has called on Northern Secretary Paul Murphy to make a public statement on the removal of 28 British soldiers from duty following a security breach at the Castlereagh base in Belfast.

Party spokesman Gerry Kelly made the call as republicans staged a protest beneath an army watchtower in west Belfast where some of the soldiers were apparently stationed.
