CORI calls for ‘national fairness strategy’
The Conference of Religious in Ireland has called on the Government to devise a “national fairness strategy” to address the growing gap between the rich and the poor.
CORI said such a strategy was needed to tackle poverty, inequality and social exclusion.
It made the call following publication of a report showing that 60% of those living in poverty in Ireland live in households headed by an unemployed person.
These include the retired, the ill and the disabled.
