Trawler detained for alleged breaches of fishing rules

The Irish Navy has detained an Irish-registered trawler on suspicion of breaching fishing regulations.

The Emerald Dawn was detained by the LE Roisin around 50 miles north-west of the Blasket Islands yesterday evening before it was escorted to Dingle for inspection by officials from the Department of the Marine.

It is the eleventh trawler to be detained by the Navy this year.
